Kjell-Einar Barreth
International consultant within media, development, research, education, tour operation and church leadership.
Although working in Bolivia, I am an Assistant Professor at Gimlekollen School of Journalism and Communication (GSJC) in Norway. Since 2004, I have been working as a Post Graduate Coordinator in Communication at Universidad San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca, Bolivia. My main task here is to implement Master’s Programs in Communication supported financially by the Norwegian Mission Alliance and academically by GSJC and University of Agder.
In addition, I am co-founder and International Coordinator of OASID, a Bolivian based NGO. Also, since 2004, I have been the Bolivian contact of several Norwegian academic institutions (NLA University College, GSJC and University of Agder are the most important ones) coordinating their multiple activities in this Andean country.
Thus, with more than 20 years of work experience in several continents, the last 15 years based in Bolivia, I am an international communication and development consultant. I have an extensive network of contacts worldwide in order to compose specialized teams for any kind of consulting job within media and development.
My area of academic research is media and journalism in the Andean world. A paper entitled "The Journey of Decolonization: Is a Different Journalism possible in Bolivia?" will be presented a the 1st International Conference on Journalism Study in Santiago, Chile in June 2012.
Finally, in 1998 I was the co-founder of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation Jesús Maestro, where I serve as a member of the preaching and elders team.
In terms of education, I hold a Master's Degree in Communication from University of Leeds, UK. Familywise, I am married to Nelcy, a Bolivian dentist, and we have three adorable kids together, where two of them are twins.
